Description

1947 Buick Roadmaster Convertible | The Buick Roadmaster was introduced in 1936 and would continue production until 1958. It used the longest wheelbase available to Buick throughout its history.  The pressure of personal automobile demand allowed Harley Earl’s short-lived 1942 Buick design to remain in place for the first three years of post-war production, 1946-48, and this 1947 Buick Roadmaster Convertible features the legacy lines associated with that. This model displays a sleek, low-slung look, stylized with rearward-flowing body lines. For 1947, changes included the new stamped vertical-slat grille, and within the bumper-guard crosshairs is a chrome button showing the Roadmaster name in red-filled script at both the front and rear.  This piece is one of 28,297 convertibles produced by Buick in 1947, and is powered by a 320cid Fireball inline 8-cylinder engine, mated to a 3-speed manual transmission, a semi-floating rear axle.  Stopping is courtesy of 4-wheel drum brakes. Odometer showing 87043 miles, VIN#A47814327. This bank seized vehicle will sell at public auction on Saturday, June 25th. Location: Barber Motorsports Museum in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. www.hendersonmotorseries.com for all the details. Offered without reserve.
