Description
"The Convertible was a very aspirational car from very early on in its life and got the Audi brand in front of a wider audience than just the motorsport fraternity. The pivotal point for this car though was Princess Diana choosing one as her daily driver in 1994. She went for the 2.3 Automatic and took delivery of it in March of that year. Manufactured by the subdivision of the Volkswagen Group across four generations from 1966 to 1996. It shared its platform with the Passat from 1973 to 1986 and was available as a saloon and estate version, the latter marketed by Audi as the Avant. The Audi 80 obtained a major facelift in the autumn of 1991, although the UK launch was not until early 1992. Changes from the previous model included a longer wheelbase, a redesigned fuel tank and rear axle to enable the use of folding seats, 15 wheels with more prominent wheel arches, redesigned and painted rear and front bumpers, as well as higher-quality materials for the interior, and a larger boot.
Registered on 3rd June 1993 this well-maintained Audi presents in good condition throughout. A new hood was fitted in 2015 and, we are advised, she drives well with no known faults. These stylish cabriolets are synonymous of the time and benefitted from a period of ‘over-engineering’ by the VAG group. The 2.3 litre, five-cylinder engine is a reliable unit with a suitable level of torque for such a car. Finished in white with a blue interior, this Audi is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 5th June 2020. Sold recently by ourselves the new owner does not have suitable storage space for this cabriolet and has therefore offered the car back to the market. Offered for sale without reserve."
