The Model - In 1976, Aston-Martin reached back into the history books and brought out the all new Lagonda Sports Saloon. Styled by William Town, he gave the car crisp lines creating a flying wedge with intricated details such as the low-flat narrow radiator shell that was flanked by the nearly invisible headlights. In its stock form, it was rated as the fastest production sedan in the world. Four passenger seating in luxurious individual bucket seats added to the flair of this car, and while the name beckoned back to a by-gone era, all of the modern amenities were included, including digital instrumentation and even touch-command controls on the dashboard. In production from 1978 to 1992, there were to be several generations, but ownership was exclusive with just 645 units produced during the 14 years in production. Using a DeDion rear axle which was fitted with trailing arms and a Watt's linkage, the handling of these cars was state-of-the art. Combined with self-leveling coils springs and shock absorbers, the comfort of the Lagonda was unbeatable.
The Car - Completed just a few years ago, a restoration that took over 10 years to complete makes this stunning sport saloon a sight to behold. The bright white exterior finish shows off those styling cues that William Town blended so well from the front to the rear, encapsulating the passenger compartment is spacious luxury hand-crafted in the finest Connolly leather hides. Under the hood an American bred LT1 Corvette V8 engine resides providing plenty of power to this grand touring sedan, backed up by a Turbo Hydramatic transmission. All of the modern convenience you could wish for have been installed starting with an entertainment system featuring the best in audio from Fahrenheit, plus a trio of video monitors. Completing the exterior appearance is a set of beautifully crafted chrome wheels riding on B.F. Goodrich radial tires. With all the subtle beauty of a British saloon and the heart of America's sports car, this is Lagonda is the best of both worlds.
