Description
The Alfa Romeo Spider is a roadster that was produced from 1966 to 1993 with popular appeal earning a reputation as a design classic. These models, largely assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes.
The engine was a 1570cc variant of the Alfa Romeo twin cam four cylinder engine, had dual Weber two-barrel side-draft carburettors, and produced 109hp though latterly, a 1779cc engine variant called the 1750, and the 1300 Junior with its 1290cc engine were introduced. The cabins of these roadsters was sparsely fitted but included five speed manual transmission, disc brakes and independent front suspension delivering a fun and spritely driving experience. The series two cars from 1970 also saw the introduction of the larger 1962cc power-plant producing 132hp as is present in our car.
The 2000 Spider offered for sale here today is a 2 owner UK supplied car that has been in the current ownership since 1992. The car was originally finished in Dutch Blue but was repainted in the in the iconic Rosso Alfa red later on it its life.
Showing a believed genuine 56,000 miles the car has formed part of our vendors private collection where it often found its self only being used and enjoyed cars on sunny weekends. These Alfa Romeo Spiders are excellent usable classic cars boosting a 5 speed gearbox and discs all round combind with gorgeous lines they provided an alround superb driving experiance.
