Carrozzeria Bertone showed the handsome Giulietta Sprint Speciale at the 1957 Torino Auto Show. It was clearly developed from the original Berlina Aerodinamica Tecnica (B.A.T.) show cars, with a sloping nose and pointed tail. About 10 of the first 100 examples had aluminum bodies, but the car was too heavy to race, so Alfa Romeo focused on the Zagato-bodied SZ for competition use.

Between 1958 and 1962, a total of 1,366 of the next-generation Speciales were built, and the design gained a higher nose, Kamm tail, and improved interior appointments. The Giulietta was replaced by the Giulia in 1963, and 1,400 were built through 1966. While the Giulia’s additional displacement improved acceleration, top speed remained 125 mph.

The Alfa Romeo was sold new to Hemming Siiberg in Summit, New Jersey, and service records confirm his ownership until 1986. The consignor discovered this exceptional Sprint Speciale in London and, after purchasing it, returned it to the US.

One high-quality repaint was performed in its original cream color, and the blue leather interior and carpet appear to be original. The brightwork is excellent and the odometer indicates 65,891 km. Sprint Speciales always attract Alfisti, and this original example is certain to garner significant attention.
