Alfa Romeo’s 2.0-litre inline four of the mid-1950s replaced its older 1,900 cc unit and helped to bring the company back to prosperity in the years following the Second World War. While the engine first found its way into a four-door sedan, it also found a home in Carrozzeria Touring’s lovely spider, truly the darling of Alfa Romeo’s lineup.

Residing in Portugal since at least 1981, this lovely spider has just recently completed a cosmetic restoration, including a repaint in the present dark green metallic, along with a new tan leather interior.

Roughly 3,400 spiders were built between 1958 and 1961. Their twin-cam inline engines breathed a little better, thanks to a pair of Solex side-draft carburetors that bumped power output to 113 hp. A fully synchronized five-speed manual transmission sent power rearward to a solid axle and drum brakes. Embodying la dolce vita at its best, an Alfa Romeo Spider is a must-have in any collection.

O motor de 2,0 litros e quatro cilindros em linha daAlfa Romeo substituiu o mais antigo equivalente de 1,9 litros em meados dos anos 50, ajudando a marca italiana a regressar à prosperidade no período que se seguiu à II Guerra Mundial. Morando em Portugal desde, pelo menos, 1981, este fascinante Spider acabou de receber uma intervenção cosmética, incluíndo a pintura no atual verde escuro metalizado, e o bonito interior, forrado a pele castanha clara.

Os seus motores em linha com dupla árvore de cames respiravam um pouco melhor, graças a um par de carburadores horizontais Solex, que subiram a potência para 113 cv.
