The AC Cobra was spawned when Carroll Shelby decided to place a V8 engine into the AC Ace. Already a fine handling and attractive sports car, the Cobra set the precedent for sports cars for years to come by mating a light weight body with brutal V8 power creating an awesomely quick and exciting car that could be driven on the road and win races in at the weekends. To this day there are few cars that can out accelerate a Cobra. It was produced in various guises from the sixties to the current production models but still remains essentially very similar to when Shelby created the first car nearly fifty years ago.
