At Artcurial’s auction on 29 and 30 October, connoisseurs will have the chance to bid on not only a host of excellent wines – many from prestigious private collections – but also some special bottles of vintage champagne and spirits. “We have witnessed a real enthusiasm for auction sales over the last few years,” say the French auction house’s wine experts, Laurie Matheson and Luc Dabadie. “One reason is that more Burgundy enthusiasts are turning to auctions in their search for the Grand Crus that have been produced in limited numbers due to the weather (storms, hail) for last three years. Also, buyers of Bordeaux wines tend to look to the auction market as it can offer more attractive prices, with prices of wine futures very high.”
