Japanese design experts and photographers are crazy about the traditional cameras ‘made in Germany’, and so, it’s not surprising that Leica has just opened its 10th store in Japan. In Tokyo’s Ginza Six shopping centre, located within the luxury quarter of the same name, you can now purchase two editions of the Leica Q— one with a cement-grey leather cover and matching strap and the other in bright orange — which are limited to just 30 each. The price for one is around 5,400 euros (660,000 yen).
To mark the 300th anniversary of Tokyo luxury department store Daimaru, Leica has also released a version of the M 240 that has been hand-painted in Wajima — Japan's home of Japanese lacquer art. Found in the Leica Store in Daimaru, the artistic camera is limited to 50 examples and costs approximately 11,000 euros. These limited-edition Japanese Leicas will be a good investment for the future — especially since you can also use them to document your trip to Tokyo in the highest quality.
