When the co-founder of WhatsApp decides to have a spring clean of the garage, the news that 10 of the world’s most sought-after Porsches are poised to hit the market is hardly surprising. Assembled by Jan Koum, a man with ‘profound love for rare Porsches’, the collection comprises motorsport-derived models from the last 25 years and is spearheaded by yellow air-cooled 911 RSs from the 1990s – a 964 Carrera RS Lightweight, 964 Carrera RS 3.8 (one of 55 built), and a 993 Carrera RS 3.8 – all in beautifully original condition. Other highlights include a 2011 Porsche 997 GT3 RS 4.0, the only North American example fitted with carbon-ceramic brakes, a Cayman GT4 in paint-to-sample Speed Yellow, and a 918 Spyder with the desirable Weissach package. Each of the three aforementioned Porsches has covered fewer than 500 miles from new. All 10 of Koum’s exceptional Porsches will be offered with no reserve at Gooding & Company’s Amelia Island sale on 8 March 2019.
