California is a curious place. Where else would the local Aston Martin dealership commission a unique equestrian-themed DB9 for a nearby horse show? Inevitably it isn’t just any old event – the Menlo Charity Horse Show (MCHS) is reputedly “one of the finest equestrian events in the United States.”

Built by ‘Q’ with the discerning equestrian lifestyle firmly in mind (which manufacturer doesn’t have a personalisation department these days?), the result is what we can only describe as spectacularly beige, or rather Ashen Blonde. Bespoke features include stitched horse logos on the Saddle Tan Luxmill headrests, saddle-style luggage fixed to the rear centre console, ivory diamond-quilted Alcantara seat inserts and striking light burlwood veneer gracing the door-tops and dash.

The interior appears to be a seriously nice place to sit, a reminder of just how luxurious the DB9 is as a Grand Tourer. It might be 11 years old, but it still reins in that department (sorry, we couldn’t resist). The one-off creation will be auctioned at the Menlo Circus Club in California next week. As a nice touch, $10,000 of the sale will be donated to MCHS, benefitting the Vista Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired.
