Everything is important
The extent of Singer and Williams’ newfound ‘lightweight research’ partnership has yet to be revealed, though we know its first fruits are three ‘reimagined’ Porsche 911 engines. The first is a 3.6-litre from long-time Singer client Scott Blattner’s 964. The naturally aspirated, air-cooled flat-six engine has been updated with such lightweight materials as titanium, magnesium, and carbon-fibre, and enlarged to four litres, with four valves per cylinder and four camshafts. To complement the research undertaken by Singer and Williams, legendary Porsche designer and engineer Hans Mezger — otherwise known as the ‘father of the flat-six’ — was a technical consultant on the project. With a reported 500bhp on tap and the ability to rev beyond 9,000rpm, we highly doubt Mr. Blattner will find any fault with his new engine. We just can’t wait to see the rest of the car...
