Porsche 911s set to sing a new tune thanks to Singer and Williams

With over eight years of recognition as one of the world’s finest restorers of the Porsche 911, it seems only natural that Singer Vehicle Design has now ‘reimagined’ the car’s beating heart, the legendary flat-six, in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering…

Everything is important

The extent of Singer and Williams’ newfound ‘lightweight research’ partnership has yet to be revealed, though we know its first fruits are three ‘reimagined’ Porsche 911 engines. The first is a 3.6-litre from long-time Singer client Scott Blattner’s 964. The naturally aspirated, air-cooled flat-six engine has been updated with such lightweight materials as titanium, magnesium, and carbon-fibre, and enlarged to four litres, with four valves per cylinder and four camshafts. To complement the research undertaken by Singer and Williams, legendary Porsche designer and engineer Hans Mezger — otherwise known as the ‘father of the flat-six’ — was a technical consultant on the project. With a reported 500bhp on tap and the ability to rev beyond 9,000rpm, we highly doubt Mr. Blattner will find any fault with his new engine. We just can’t wait to see the rest of the car...

The complete collaboration, representing a new stand-alone selection of restoration and modification services provided by Singer, is set to be revealed in four weeks. You can find further information on this new project at the Singer Vehicle Design website.
