This ‘desert-find’ Jaguar E-type could make your dream a reality

It’s no secret that we’d all love to stumble upon that next big barn-find, but how many people would be brave enough to overhaul the car’s mechanicals, while retaining its ‘as-found’ cosmetics? The finders of this Jaguar E-type have done just that…

Why dream?

After 35 years languishing in a shipping container in the Californian desert, this 1965 matching-numbers Jaguar E-type was discovered as a genuine time-warp example. It was subsequently sold to the E-type Center in the Netherlands, who undertook a full mechanical restoration while preserving the patina it had acquired over the years. Reportedly now in ‘safe and reliable’ driving condition, some of the cosmetic details are truly remarkable: the body number that was applied to the bulkhead in chalk when it left the factory, still boldly emblazoned, and the ‘California State University of Long Beach’ sticker, applied by a previous owner, for example.

The interior is where the car really shines, and could well be where the most points are picked up for a potential ‘preservation class’concours entry, should the new owner be so inclined. If you’ve dreamt of doing something similar, why dream any longer?

You can find this barn-find Jaguar E-type, along with many other E-types for sale in the Classic Driver Market.
