Bertone’s forgotten beauties
In what is a real coup for the 130-year-old Italian auction house, Aste Bolaffi has been chosen to sell the dissolved (and forgotten) Bertone Stile archive, and while the entirety of the collection is simply too large to sell in one go, two very special and unique Bertone concepts — the Ferrari-based Nuccio (est. 280,000–320,000 euros) and the Alfa 8C-based Pandion (220,000–260,000 euros) — will cross the block on 23 May in Milan, in addition to 52 other classic and collectable cars. With ages spanning 70 years and estimates ranging from below 10,000 euros all the way up to 1.1m euros, the catalogue should appeal to all tastes and budgets. And each and every lot feels as though it’s made the cut on merit rather than just to fill a quote — take the quirky, rare, and very cool 1985 Peugeot Break 4x4 Dangel, for example, estimated to fetch just 16,000–20,000 euros, or the 1981 Renault 5 Turbo Tour de Corse (140,000–160,000 euros).
