The fabulously toy-like ‘Alcatraz 521’ from North Coast Custom in Italy was built entirely from scratch – a feat that earned it fifth place at this year’s AMG bike-building World Championships…

Something from nothing

Because everything on this bike (save for the tyres and some wiring) was handcrafted by North Coast Custom’s founder Francesco and his team from scratch, the decision was taken to retain the natural machined-steel finish, accentuating the hand-carved wooden fuel tank, tail and headlight and making the whole thing look like a life-size toy. And if you’re wondering from where the ‘Alcatraz’ name originates, Francesco’s date of birth is the same as the day famous escapee Frank Morris checked into the legendary island prison.
