The top 10 cars sold for over 73m USD at the Monterey auctions

A number of high-profile auctions took place over the weekend setting new records and benchmarks for various models. Here are the top ten sales.

We don’t often get to see a McLaren F1 road car sell publicly and unsurprisingly it was the top sale of the weekend. The time-capsule 1995 McLaren F1, which set a world record auction price for the model at $20,465,000 gathered much interest and the car also made headlines as the most valuable car sold at auction this year. Bravo Gooding & Co.

Meanwhile at Bonhams the stunning 1928 Merceds-Benz 26/120/180-S-Type Supercharged Sports Tourer achieved $5,395,000, Bonhams top result from their Quail Lodge Auction that also saw a gorgeous 1974 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 TT 12 race car, sell for $1,677,000.

Proving that youngtimers are still gaining a huge amount of interest, records were broken throughout the auction within the cars aged under 30 years old. The 1995 Ferrari F50 sold for $3,965,000, the 1994 Bugatti EB110 Super Sport sold for $2,755,000, and the 1991 Jaguar XJR-15 sold for $1,902,500 – all bringing in record prices for the models. The 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R brought an auction record for the R33 generation Nissan Skyline with a sold price of $235,200.
