On Thursday 26 July 2012, Paris-based saleroom Artcurial will offer 38 cars direct from the personal collection of the Monaco royal family.

The auction will be held at Les Terrasses de Fontvieille, Monaco. All successful bidders will receive registration documents listing the current owner as ‘SAS le Prince Albert II de Monaco, address: Palais de Monaco’.

That’s certainly something to impress your friends with.

Nearly all the entries are ‘No Reserve’, and range from the very old (a 1913 Panhard & Levassor X19 Roadster, at 25,000 - 35,000 euros) to the modern classics you see here.

The 1982 Porsche 928 S (15,000 - 20,000 euros, ‘No Reserve’) is one of the later cars and has a plain beige interior, rather than the wacky ‘Op Art’ velour of the then-controversial car when launched.

Another car from the same era, the 1983 Mercedes-Benz 500 SEC AMG (15,000 - 25,000 euros, ‘No Reserve’) has had just one owner: Prince Rainier, who bought the car new from the local Mercedes-Benz dealership. It was commissioned from AMG in his favourite colour of dark blue, and carries many other details specifically ordered by the Prince.
