Beschreibung
The Subaru 1000 was launched by Fuji Heavy Industries, now known as Subaru, in 1966 as the manufacturer’s first mass-produced compact passenger car. From the beginning of development, the focus was on space efficiency, quietness and comfort. These were achieved through adopting front-wheel drive, center pivot steering, horizontally opposed engine, etc., all of which were unusual in the popular class at the time.
To increase traction, which was said to be an issue for some earlier FF models, the spare tyre, jack and anything else that could be moved was stored in the engine room, concentrating 60% of the vehicle weight at the front. This technology greatly increased the possibility of developing FF vehicles that Nissan and Toyota were struggling with.
These unique and rational specifications, which can be said to be unique to Fuji Heavy Industries, succeeded in making a big difference from the rival vehicles of the time, and at the same time, became the catalyst for many Subaru enthusiasts who became the origin of "Subaruists".
This particular model is a 1968 4-door sedan. The exterior has deteriorated over the years in some places but there is no major damage to the paint and it is in relatively good condition. The interior is in original condition and the seats are fitted with a gingham check cover. The plastic cover on the driver’s door is torn, but no other major damage on the interior. Maintenance is required to start the engine.
