The story goes that this hot rod was started in 1954 in Braintree, Massachusetts by James “Tiny” Brown of the Flywheels Car Club. He channeled the car eight inches, but left it unchopped as was the East Coast style. At that point the car was sold to Flywheels member John Otis who installed a “new” engine and began showing the car in 1958. It was shown extensively for the next several years, winning many awards on the Autorama and World of Wheels show circuits as well as club and local events.
Around 1990, the car was sold back to Tiny Brown and in 1994 to Paul Nolan and then to Dewayne Cecil of Idaho. During his ownership that car was photographed on the Bonneville Salt Flats. The deuce has also been shown in Texas; this will be its first California appearance.
Among the many features onboard are a 1955 Chevrolet 265-cid V-8 engine with Duntov cam, three two-barrel Rochester carbs, ported and polished head, Offenhauser intake manifold, aluminum flywheel, ’34 Ford dropped front axle, ’33 Ford three-speed transmission with Lincoln-Zephyr gears, ’48 Ford rear end, Renault bucket seats, polished fencepost tailpipes and interior by Sonny Rogers. It has been in the major hot rod publications starting in 1959 with a last mentioned appearance in 2009 – this is a great, well-known rod with a sterling history.
