Beschreibung

The 2nd generation Crown was released in 1962 with a bigger body to meet new vehicle standards. The regal flat deck style design drew strong influence from American cars at the time. The front grille has the motif of a “T” for Toyota, and the body line is molded by complicated pressing techniques, representing a modern approach at the time.

The stability of the chassis was improved with the introduction of a rigid X shaped platform frame, to reflect the progress of highway construction. The engine is the same as the original one and adopts the "3R type" of 1.9ℓ in-line 4-cylinder OHV. Later, in 1965, a new in-line 6-cylinder engine-equipped vehicle was added to the lineup. Its driving performance goes beyond the framework of a "luxury car sedan" and won the class victory at the "1st Japan Grand Prix" held at the Suzuka Circuit in 1963.

This particular car is a "deluxe" model equipped with the in-line 6-cylinder engine mentioned above. The exterior has only small scratches on the emblems, and the body and plated parts are in good condition. Although stains and dirt remain on the interior seats and door panels, the instrument panel and handles are in relatively good condition, and the clock located in the center of the dashboard is eye-catching.

The trunk room is equipped with an evaporator and refrigerator with the COOL-BOX printed on it.
Maintenance is required to start the engine, but it can be said that the historical value of Crown's first in-line 6-cylinder engine is high. The odometer points to 16,216 km.
