Worthy heir to the A110, the Alpine A310 is the latest car designed by Jean Rédélé with a design done by Marcel Beligond that will give it a very original line, both compact and fluid. The founder of the brand had in mind to propose something else than his very racing Berlinette. With the A310, he was aiming at a grand touring market, by proposing a bigger and more comfortable 2+2. The A310 1600 was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1971, and its very angular style was a breach with its predecessor. Its design is however very pure and sought-after at the same time. A break with style and standing, the comfort on board evolves with the appearance of carpeting and more comfortable seats that smell the 70s. Road handling will also be revised with the appearance of triangulated suspension.
This is the so-called EV model that is presented in these pages. First put on the road on April 4, 1973, it is the serial number 859. It is a typical seventies metallic bronze colour with a black leather interior. It was sold new in Tours before joining the Sarthe department in 1977. It will remain in the hands of the same owner from 1977 to 2015. The car is now in an interesting original condition, never restored or modified. The paint is period and a little tarnished, the interior is in good condition and the engine running with its Weber 45 carburetors. The odometer shows just over 87,000 km and this seems to be the original mileage. The mechanical parts were restored about ten years ago by the former owner and since then the car has not been driven so much. Today the A 310 deserves a careful refurbishment, but the base is sound and above all complete.
This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in Paris, France, on March the 21th, 2021.
