Beschreibung
Rinspeed AG was founded by Frank Rinderknecht in 1977, and from the onset the company garnered attention with concepts such as a turbocharged Volkswagen Golf with gullwing doors and a Porsche 928 interior. Since then, Rinspeed has grown into an international design and concept car firm responsible for countless innovative creations.
Donald L. Weber was a frequent visitor to the Geneva Motor Show and, after his visit in 1985, he started a dialogue with Rinspeed that resulted in the purchase of two of the company’s wildly tuned Porsche 930s; this 969 and later the R69, which he sold circa 1989. The 969 is based on a 930 Turbo and received custom bodywork highlighted by pop-up headlights and taillights from a 944, along with massive rear flares and side strakes reminiscent of the Ferrari Testarossa. The interior of this car is 1980s excess at its finest, and features adjustable Recaro seats and an extensive Pioneer stereo system with a remote set into the steering wheel.
Purchase documentation of both of Weber’s Rinspeed Porsches is included in the extensive history file, in addition to the 969’s maintenance records, original manuals, and warranty book that specify it as a Swiss-delivery 1984 model. A most Swiss creation, this remarkable Porsche is rare, with as few as 12 having been built. Showing just under 10,000 miles at the time of cataloguing, its new owner will enjoy the attention received at any Porsche gathering.
