The Model: What began as a uncomplicated replacement for the legendary 356 in 1964 grew into a legendary family of sportscars with each generation more complex and capable than the last. By the early 1980s, the turbocharged 930 variant was the top of the lineup worldwide. Emissions regulations prevented the turbo Porsche from being sold in the US. In 1984, Porsche introduced the M491 option, commonly known as the "Turbolook". The M491 shared the 930 Turbo’s wide wheel arches, wide wheels and the "tea tray" spoiler. Underneath, the M491s gained the improved turbo suspension and braking system. The handling of these cars was fantastic. With the 930 turbo unavailable, US enthusiasm for the M491 package was strong, but the over $12,500 premium has made the M491 Porsche 911s a rare and sought after commodity today.
The Car: This exceptional factory wide body 911 is in incredible preservation condition and represents one of only 180 cabriolets with the M491 “Turbolook” option. The paint and interior are exceptional. The records and service history included with this car are comprehensive, documenting not only the mileage, but the lavish care this vehicle has received. It includes all original tools and books plus the build sheet and window sticker. This 911 has never been damaged, resprayed, or taken apart. The black paint, black convertible top and black and grey leather interior are in outstanding condition. In addition to the flared fenders, wide wheels, ‘tea tray’ spoiler and suspension and brake upgrades that are part of the M491 package, this fabulous car also includes a tonneau cover. This 911 has been religiously maintained and all service is fully up to date. The opportunity to find such a welldocumented ultrarare M491 cabriolet in this condition is unlikely to come again.
