Beschreibung
This 964 Targa is one of only 137 examples built for the US market in 1993, according to figures published by marque author Adrian Streather. This example is rarer still, due to its C4 all-wheel drive and optional 17" alloy Cup wheels.
Delivered new in Guards Red to Porsche dealer Bert Smith International in St. Petersburg, Florida, the car’s first owner was Kent Rawson, an avid local collector. Joe Vatter, now the proprietor of nearby Porsche specialty shop German Tech, worked at Bert Smith and reports he specially ordered the car for Mr. Rawson. Mr. Vatter recalls that some of the special-order options – herringbone seat inserts, Carrera script, and black wheels – were left off the 964 and were later installed at the dealership. After leaving Mr. Rawson’s collection, the 964 Targa was owned briefly by another caretaker before it was acquired for The James G. Hascall Collection.
Showing less than 3,500 miles at the time of cataloguing, this beautiful example is documented with its original window sticker, copy of retail order, and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. It is also accompanied by its original books, jack, air compressor, and Targa top tools. With iconic colors and a five-speed manual transaxle, this exclusive Targa-topped 964 is a chance to acquire a uniquely specified sports car with the timeless silhouette of the 911.
