Beschreibung
The Pierce-Arrow reputation for quality, refinement, and elegance is beautifully exemplified in the 840A Coupe offered here. Exclusive when new, a mere 47 coupes were built, with this one documented as the final example by marque authority Bernard Weis.
The patented Pierce-Arrow Frenched headlight treatment blends well with the fender line that sweeps gracefully into the running board without interruption, courtesy of the rear-mounted spare - the sole coupe configured this way. The understated and correct Pierce Beige paintwork with brown accents highlights its distinctive body contours. The interior compartment features intimate seating for two, and the rumble seat allows two additional passengers to ride al fresco. Show-quality leather upholstery repeats the brown accent tone.
Restored in 2008, by the previous owner, Pat Craig, a former President of the Pierce Arrow Society, it was returned to show-quality standards and was then invited to participate in the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance®. It handily completed in the 70-mile Tour d’Elegance with amazing smoothness, a testimony to Pierce’s engineering. This Coupe went on to win the Foundation Trophy and a Best in Class award at the Ironstone Concours d’Elegance that same year.
Perhaps even more distinctive now than when new, just seven are known today, offering entry into a rarified group of owners who appreciate quality and good taste.
