Beschreibung
"The Morgan Roadster was introduced in 2004 replacing the Morgan Plus 8. It is identical to its predecessor except for new modern Ford V6 mechanics. The new engine develops similar power, though less torque and is slightly lighter than the Rover V8 which results in increased performance and better fuel economy. Like its predecessor, the chassis consists of a standard ladder frame design and is built from galvanised steel with five tubular or box section cross members. The body is built of steel and aluminium around an ash frame. Suspension is traditional Morgan slider type up-front and solid axle/leaf spring at the rear.
This particular example is a pure racer and a very special example which was built from a bare chassis by Richard Thorne Classic Cars with great attention to weight saving to full Class B specification specifically for the Aero Racing Morgan Challenge Race Series. Class B allows considerable modifications from the standard Roadster Lightweight including four wheel disc brakes, vented at the front, 7”x 16” Image wheels with 225/50VR16 Yokohama tyres, a modified three litre, Ford V6 with bespoke ECU, race cams and big bore manifolds giving circa 280bhp at 7,000rpm. This is a well sorted racing Morgan which has always been maintained with no expense spared ensuring that it is fast and reliable.
This fabulous car has won two Morgan Challenge races outright beating all the Class A cars in the process (the only class B Roadster to do so) and will be highly competitive again in the right hands, on the circuit or on hill climbs and sprints. Just a turn of the key with no fuss is all that’s needed to start the Ford V6 which sounds amazing but is well below the 105db restrictions. She wants for nothing and is ready to race! This potent racer comes with a good history file documenting invoices detailing race-prep and maintenance and, in addition, race results and set-up information. The present owner regularly qualified and finished in the top ten and finished every race it entered, a testament to its build quality and killer instinct."
