Beschreibung

The 1980 450 SL was the end-of-an-era model and predecessor to the 380 SL, which was introduced the following year amidst new emissions restrictions. This highly desirable 450 SL was sold new to Maurice De Korte of Hopatcong, New Jersey, via the Kea Motor Car Company of New York. According to the invoice on file, Mr. De Korte ordered the Mercedes-Benz with Walnut Brown paint, Dark Brown soft top, Palomino leather, and Becker Mexico radio as optional equipment. Built to US specification, this 450 SL’s vehicle data card and 17-digit VIN indicate that it was likely one of the very last of the 1980 models. In 2003, second owner Frank Rubinetti of Pennsylvania, acquired the car with fewer than 6,000 miles on the odometer and drove it just a few thousand miles to local shows and events during his ownership.

This car is well documented, and offered with original purchase paperwork, owner’s manual, factory warranty book stamped with the serial number, dealer directory, Michelin warranty, personalized letter from the dealer, original service data plate, factory-supplied first aid kit, and service records – underlining the care and attention the car has received over its long but secluded lifetime.

Simply put, this 1980 Mercedes-Benz is a highly desirable model, original, seemingly unmodified from new, and particularly well presented and documented, in an elegant and unusual livery, with less than 10,000 miles. This is a rare find for even the most scrupulous collector of the marque.
