Model History
It was built between 1990-2002. Under the bonnet, there was a 4983 cc V8 engine, developing 322 BHP, which sent its power to the back wheels via a 4- or 5-speed automatic gearbox. Compared to its predecessor, the car was equipped with an independent multilink suspension up front and disc brakes all round. The SL excelled when it came to safety, too. Each SL was sold with an electrically operated textile roof cover and with a detachable hardtop. First SL’s left the factory with a 6-cylinder, 190 BHP engine in the 300 SL guise. They were soon joined by the more powerful 500 SL and 600 SL versions with V8 and V12 engines respectively. Overall, 213 089 examples were made.
Vehicle History
Mercedes 500 SL R129 offered by the vintage and classic car auction company Ardor Auctions comes with a highly desirable colour combination, known as the bornite. On the outside, the car looks very attractive thanks to its new paint, applied in accordance with strict Mercedes-Benz technical requirements. Mechanically, the 500 SL is in very good condition. Its current owner had all consumables replaced on time. Leather upholstery has been refurbished, while the whole interior looks stunning after many hours of detailing work. The car comes with a full technical record, together with service book and reports from mechanical inspections. This is without doubt an interesting proposition for those after a luxury roadster from the beginning of the 1990’s.
