The new generation of Mercedes-Benz coupes and cabriolets was introduced in 1961 by Paul Bracq. Directly derived from the W111 saloon, the coupe was first sold as a 220 SE version and was replaced by the 250 SE. Equipped with a 2.5L in-line six cylinder engine, this elegant coupe was in its day one of the most expensive cars in the world. The mechanical, aesthetic and manufacturing qualities of this great coupé were unquestionable, even long after the era of the Nationale 7.
The example we are offering for sale is a 250 SE coupé powered by a 2.5L six cylinder engine, the power of which is transmitted to the ground via a mechanical gearbox. The
The dark green paint combined with the light green roof gives it a very nice look. The chromes are in quite good condition and the brown leather interior has a nice patina. The car is sound and ready to be driven on asphalt. Following a lot of recent work (invoice file available), the car came safely by road.
Our road test confirms that the car is running well, the engine is running smoothly and the brakes are efficient.
Today, the W111 coupe is more and more sought after, as its value continues to rise. This is why this 250 SE deserves attention from collectors and enthusiasts who, like many, will agree to define this generation of
Mercedes-Benz as one of the most elegant ever produced.
