Beschreibung

Guide price: £15000 - £18000.

2-litre boxer engine with optional 5-speed dog-leg gearbox

Last owner in the UK for 3 years

UK V5C and an MoT showing no advisories

Production of the Lancia Flavia commenced in 1961 and, as well as the saloon, the range eventually included Coupe and convertible versions designed by Pininfarina and Vignale respectively. Performance improved over the ten year period as the engine size increased, progressively, to 2000 cc. and the model remained in production until 1970, when it was updated and renamed the Lancia 2000.

The Flavia was developed by Professor Antonio Fessia in the late 1950s, and when production commenced, only the four-door saloon was available for sale. These early models were powered by a 1.5-litre aluminium boxer engine driving through the front wheels and Dunlop disc brakes were fitted all round. Towards the end of the 1960s, when Fiat took control of the company, the coupé and saloon versions were redesigned and these new models were unveiled in March 1969 at the Geneva Motor Show. The engine was increased to 2.0-litres in capacity and could be specified with carburettors or fuel injection, and a four or five-speed gearbox. This engine/ transmission combination was only available with the revised Pininfarina Coupe and Lancia Sedan.

This lovely example is a later 1969 model with the updated, and arguably, far prettier two-door Pininfarina body that shares a lot of Ferrari influences.

Finished in Blue Scuro and presented in superb condition all round, this car is fitted with the rare, optional 5-speed,dog-leg gearbox and when combined with the 2-litre boxer engine the Flavia becomes very capable and sprightly indeed. We understand that this elegant Lancia performs just as it should.

For sale with a current UK V5C and an MoT showing no advisories, this rare car is sure to provide a most enjoyable driving experience with lots of Italian style.
