Beschreibung
Developing a flagship to succeed the Countach was a challenging project for Lamborghini. Displaying a fresh curvaceous shape, the new Diablo echoed the angular Countach, but with a refined aerodynamic precision. When the Diablo debuted in 1990, it delivered a blistering 0–60 time of 4.5 seconds and a 202 mph top speed. Standard features included climate control, adjustable seats, and electric windows. Second-generation Diablos had redesigned interiors, Roadster bumpers, and larger OZ racing wheels to accommodate anti-lock brakes, a Lamborghini first. Power was boosted to 530 hp, and clear headlight lenses replaced pop-up items.
The car offered here, an exclusive second-generation Diablo, is a low-mileage example that comes from 15 years in a private collection. Resplendent in Rosso Diablo over Tan leather, this Diablo VT is accompanied by a CARFAX Vehicle History Report, photos, and service records that show replacement of consumables and fluids by Lamborghini of Ohio. When the current owner acquired the car in 2003, it had covered under 5,000 miles; today, the mileage stands at approximately 7,900.
This Diablo represents a snapshot of Lamborghini in transition. The mighty analogue V-12 and manual gearbox are of the pre-Audi era, but the four-wheel drive and the 500-plus hp evoke modern Lamborghinis. Redolent with character, this Diablo VT represents a rare opportunity to possess what may be the ideal synthesis of Lamborghini old and new.
