PRICE REDUCTION! Who does not love a 1963 Mark 2 3.8 Jaguar? The 3.8 was the top of the range Mark 2 available. This car was restored in the past and looks great. This also included a full rebuild of the 3.8-litre straight-six leaving it in rude health. It has a 4-speed automatic transmission. As we have already remarked it is no surprise the Mark 2 is still a very popular classic. The gorgeous curves and delightful handling has ensured a large faithful following. It also happens to be typically the kind of car for everyday use and where you start to wonder if the technological advances in the car industry have really been so big.
The bodywork looks great. It has nice and thin and correctly aligned panelwork. The shiny brightwork and bumpers have all been re-chromed. The deep paintwork lustre is thanks to a high-quality respray. The car stands on regulation wire wheels shod in good quality, correctly sized rubber. Items such as windows and headlights are all very neat.
The reupholstered interior trim is very much in keeping with the original layout. It has fine beige coloured carpets and leather. The leather is nice and supple. The newly lacquered woodwork was also tended to during the restoration, leaving it in great condition. The dashboard looks lovely with the beguiling Smith instruments all in good working order. The headlining is also in very good condition.
Mechanically the car performs exactly as you would wish. The 3.8-litre straight-six makes light work of this sporty sedan together with the well-matched automatic. This great-sounding engine effortlessly climbs through the range, delivering its 223 Ps helped by two SU carburettors. Both suspension and brakes were also overhauled, adding to the pleasurable driving experience of this aristocratic Jaguar Mark 2. The smooth automatic runs seamlessly.
This is, without doubt, a beautiful 1963 Jaguar MkII 3.8. It was the top of the range then and is still the ultimate style icon for the Coventry based brand. Many of us reflect wistfully back to the period when one of the best cars around could be had from the local Jaguar garage.
