Beschreibung
"There was no surprise when Honda, the world’s largest producer of motorbikes, borrowed technology from its Grand Prix winning motorcycle team in the production of its car range. This included all aluminium engines with twin overhead camshafts and the use of roller bearings throughout. The 791cc version of the S800 was introduced at the 1965 Tokyo Motor Show and retained the ladder frame chassis and the chain drive from the previous model. With 70bhp on tap and revving up to 10,000rpm, the S800 was good for almost 100mph. The S800 was launched in the UK in 1967 and was a cheaper car than its peers, the Mini Cooper and Triumph Spitfire. Today, the model has a strong following and an enthusiastic Owners Club. With a relatively large production run, incredibly only 96 righthand drive Honda S800 were made, and of these a mere 15 were destined for UK buyers. The DVLA records show that this particular example was registered in March 1968. The car presents well in the colour combination of red with a black interior. We are informed that CDF 545F spent the majority of its life on display, in an office, in a Honda dealership in Norway. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document, this MoT exempt ‘pocket rocket’ is described by the vendor as tremendous fun. What a great way to enjoy the summer."
