The Model - With renewed life, Shelby American was up and running again, taking stock Mustangs and creating legends. With Carroll Shelby at the forefront, he continued to prove that his favorite car was the "next one". While customers were lining up for the new GT500, there would only be a limited number who could get the 40th Anniversary edition. In addition to the proper badging, there were the 20" Shelby Razor wheels produced by American Racing, plus carbon fiber lower front fascia splitter aluminum hood grille inserts, a special stripe package plus front and rear brake cooling duct kits. Under the hood supercharging developed in conjunction with Ford so as to meet emission standards, this gave the fuel just enough push to belt out an honest 500 HP. The big-block sound from the Borla exhaust system using the cat-back system will turn heads whenever the engine is revved. The interior décor carried over the 40th Anniversary theme including a special commemorative plaque mounted to the dashboard. When this model was unveiled at Ford's booth during the 2006 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the press was ready to re-crown Shelby as the "King of Speed".
The Car - Finished in black with the silver anniversary dual racing stripes, this GT500 strikes a pose that inspired a new generation of gearheads. All of the new Shelby Mustangs were mean machines, and they weren't cheap, but they were what one you could aspire to own one day. Maintained in as near-new condition as possible it is just as it was when it came out of the factory, with one exception, this car carries Carroll Shelby's actual signature on the dashboard, and that is an autograph to be treasured. Other interior appointments include the factory AM-FM-CD stereo system, the Shelby signature gauges that are easy to read, the special white shifter knob and that leather wrapped steering wheel emblazoned with the Cobra logo medallion in the center. With just a bit over 1,500 miles, you as the new owner will be faced with a major decision, get out there and drive it like Carroll Shelby would have wanted, or keep it as a tribute of what might well be America's greatest master of horsepower.
