The first-generation Ford LTD was introduced in 1965 as the Galaxie 500 LTD in response to the introduction of the Chevrolet Caprice, Dodge Monaco and Dodge Polara. It allowed the flagship Galaxie 500 line to expand. It was designed as a luxury vehicle and of course offers many features of more expensive vehicles at a lower price. During 1966, the name Galaxie was dropped in favor of LTD, making it a full-fledged nameplate for the American brand. The first generation LTD had a wheelbase of 3,023 mm, the second generation (1969-1978) lengthened to 3,070 mm. Our 1978 LTD is the last model of this size, before a drastic reduction in 1979. The so-called full-size Fords remained very successful cars every year during this period, thanks to their high comfort, powerful engines, good build quality and reasonable cost.
Intended for export only, this Ford LTD Coupe left the factory in March 1978 in Canada and was bought new in Belgium in 1979. It is in nice condition and has been repainted in its original color. The blue upholstery is in good condition although the carpet is worn. The mechanics have been revised. The electrical system works. This model is equipped with a sunroof and working retractable lights."
