Après la mythique Mustang, l’un des succès commerciaux les plus importants des années 1960, Ford Europe cherche à créer un pony-car adapté au vieux continent. Les critères ? Une voiture simple, sportive, abordable et personnalisable à souhait. De ce projet nait la Ford Capri qui sera présentée au salon de Bruxelles en janvier 1969. Conforme aux attentes, la voiture est racée, avec un profil fastback et un long capot, style alors très en vogue aux Etats-Unis. Disponible à sa sortie avec cinq motorisations différentes et pléthore d'options, la Capri s'adapte à tous les clients et leurs attentes, de la finition la plus simple aux versions luxueuses, en passant par les plus sportives. Pour l'Europe, elle sera construite à la fois en Angleterre et en Allemagne. Elle rencontrera un franc succès commercial avec 1,2 millions de Ford Capri MK1 vendues. En 1970, la gamme s'élargit et donne naissance au graal avec la bestiale Ford Capri 2600 RS. Après plusieurs restyling, la production s’arrêtera en 1986.

La voiture que nous vous proposons fut livrée neuve à l’importateur Ford France de Rueil Malmaison en 1973, avec le fameux V6 Ford Cologne 2,6 l à carburateur. Son propriétaire actuel ayant malheureusement égaré le dossier et les papiers de cette auto, son historique est inconnu. La voiture est dans un état de fonctionnement assez bon. Elle nécessitera cependant une révision mécanique assez importante pour reprendre la route en toute sérénité. Les freins fonctionnent bien, la boîte est agréable, mais le V6 alimenté par un carburateur Solex semble manquer de puissance. Du point de vue cosmétique, la voiture est en assez bon état, mais quelques signes de corrosion sont visibles sur les sous-bassement et dans le fond de coffre. La peinture est en bon état et l’intérieur beige présente très bien. Ces deux éléments témoignent d’une restauration importante faite quelques années auparavant. Cette Ford Capri 2600 GT sans prix de réserve représente une très belle opportunité de remise en route pour un passionné en recherche de projet !

After the mythical Mustang, one of the most important commercial successes of the 1960s, Ford Europe is looking to create a pony car adapted to the Old Continent. The criteria? A simple, sporty, affordable car that could be customised as desired. This project gave rise to the Ford Capri, which was presented at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1969. In line with expectations, the car was sleek, with a fastback profile and a long bonnet, a style that was very fashionable in the United States at the time. Available with five different engines and a plethora of options, the Capri was able to adapt to all customers and their expectations, from the simplest finish to the most luxurious and sporty versions. In Europe, it was built in both England and Germany. It was a commercial success, with 1.2 million Ford Capri MK1s sold. In 1970, the range was extended and the beastly Ford Capri 2600 RS was born. After several restylings, the production will stop in 1986.
This car was delivered new to the Ford France importer in Rueil-Malmaison in 1973, with the famous Ford Cologne 2.6 l V6 carburettor. The current owner has unfortunately misplaced the file and English title of this car (even if the car is a LHD), so its history is unknown. The car is in a fairly good working condition. However, it will need an important mechanical overhaul to be able to drive it again with peace of mind. The brakes work well, the gearbox is pleasant, but the V6 powered by a Solex carburettor seems to lack power. Cosmetically, the car is in quite good condition, but some signs of corrosion are visible on the underbody and in the boot floor. The paintwork is in good condition and the beige interior looks very good. Both elements show a major restoration done a few years ago. This Ford Capri 2600 GT with no reserve price represents a very nice opportunity for a project driven enthusiast to get back on the road!
