Beschreibung

The Ferrari Testarossa was first unveiled at the 1984 Paris Auto Show, quickly becoming the poster car of a generation. The design that would rival the Lamborghini Countach was a drastic change from the 512 BB that the car derived from. Not only did Ferrari sway from the smooth lines seen on its prior, they also radically changed the engine from what was formally seen in the BB. It had four-valves per cylinder, Marelli electronic ignition, Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, and capable of producing 390 bhp from the 4943 cc horizontally opposed 12 cylinders. The 0 to 60 mph time was an impressive (even by today's standards) time of 5.3 seconds and top speed was over 180 mph. All versions of the Testarossa were rear wheel drive and had a rear-mounted, five-speed manual transmission. The interior also benefited from significant upgrades, mainly revolving around a greater finish and more space for both passengers and luggage, to allow this V12 supercar to also be used on Grand Tours with upmost comfort.

This UK RHD example was supplied new by Maranello Sales in December 1990 to its first private owner, Mr John Hawkins of Weybridge, Surrey. Completed in the iconic combination of Rosso Corsa over Crema (3997) Hide interior with optional Nero dashboard and Rosso carpets, this example really harks back to those sensational posters that adorned bedroom walls at the time.

Retained by Hawkins until 1994, the car was then sold by Maranello Concessionaires to its second custodian Mr Stevens. At the time of the sale, the car had covered just 441 miles from new! Stevens would retain the car for eight years, exercising the car occasionally and bringing the mileage up to 7,400 miles by 2002.

Purchased by its third keeper at that time, the car would lead a gentler life seeing only occasional use. Dry stored, the MOT history documents the cars minimal use, with only 4,100 miles covered between 2002 and 2015.

In 2016 the car was purchased from an estate sale and at that time, DK Engineering carried out a significant service, including cambelts and overhaul of components. DK have most recently handled the sale of this wonderful example to its two most recent owners. Since 2016, this example has been kept within our secure storage facility seeing very occasional use.

Receiving a major service at DK in 2020 at 11,430 miles, the car today has covered just 11,650 Miles from new. It presents in superb condition as one would expect and will receive a fresh service as part of the sale. It is available to view at our showrooms just outside London immediately.
