Beschreibung
Founded in 1977 by Willy König in Munich, Koenig Specials pushed the envelope of supercar performance and styling, gaining recognition worldwide for its outlandish creations. Koenig would tune any manner of Mercedes, Porsche, or Ferrari, and the Testarossa alone was available in varying forms with up to 1,000 hp in “Evolution” guise.
As documented in an extensive and fascinating history file, this 1986 Testarossa was purchased new by Donald L. Weber from Ferrari agents in Switzerland and sent directly to Koenig Specials for modification. As shown on original invoices, the Ferrari received wider front and rear fenders, sport springs and shock absorbers, 9" x 16" and 12" x 15" BBS three-piece wheels, and a MOMO steering wheel. It was also delivered with a set of Koenig sport camshafts, though it is not clear if these were ever installed. Modifications totaled 77,699 Deutsche Marks.
Finished in November 1986, the Ferrari was sent to the US by Lufthansa and federalized by M-Tec of Gardena, California, and subsequently imported and delivered to Mr. Weber. Showing just 15,180 km at the time of cataloguing, the Ferrari has seen minimal use and is in running condition, but a lack of recent maintenance history indicates that servicing should be a priority for its new owner. A rare and exclusive find, especially in the US, this incredible custom Ferrari will surely be the talk of any event in which it is entered, and is sure to make someone’s childhood dream come true.
