Propelled into the limelight at the 1975 Paris Motor Show, the new 308 GTB designed by the Pininfarina design office is undoubtedly one of the most emblematic designs of the Prancing Horse with a line directly inspired by the 512 BB and Dino 246 GT. Named 308 ("30" for 3.0 litres of displacement and "8" for 8 cylinders) it takes up the chassis of the Dino 308 GT4 with a reduced wheelbase of 21 cm. Mechanically, it has the GT4's four overhead camshaft V8, which is always positioned transversely at the rear and is powered by four Weber 40 twin-body carburettors. The eight-cylinder engine produces 255 horsepower and is mated to a five-speed mechanical gearbox, allowing the car to reach speeds of over 240 kph. Equipped with a dry sump and featuring a particularly compact, low and slender silhouette, the 308 GTB will immediately appeal to all the brand's enthusiasts as well as to a wider public.
The model we are offering you is a desirable 308 GTB which entered service on 18 April 1979 in the South West of France. Acquired in 2012 by its current owner, it will be since this date regularly maintained by the Dougnac garage in Toulouse, specialized in the maintenance of beautiful Italian cars. In 2017, the timing belt and the water pump are replaced, the car will have covered only a little more than a thousand kilometers since then. Our berlinette has a beautiful Rosso Corsa paintwork combined with a black interior. The leather of the seats has a nice patina and their support is perfect. At the wheel we found a dynamic and very well balanced car. The dashboard instruments as well as the air conditioning are functional. The V8's revs are frank and resonate through the stainless steel exhaust line, a real acoustic pleasure! The car will be sold with its tool kit, jack and cover. Presented today at an attractive estimate our rigorously maintained car has all the arguments to convince you.
