Beschreibung
"The Nissan 240Z was the first generation of the GT two-seat coupés produced from 1969 to 1978. Dealers soon had long waiting lists for the 'Z'. Its modern design, relatively low price and growing dealer network compared well to other foreign sports cars of the time. The Series I launched in 1970 with the Series II in 1971 with minor design changes in-between. The 240Z was powered by a lusty 2.4 litre, straight six, overhead cam engine developing around 150bhp resulting in 0-60 in eight seconds and a top speed of 125mph. A five speed manual gearbox was standard and the car featured independent suspension all round with MacPherson struts at the front and Chapman links at the rear. Rack and pinion power steering and front disc brakes meant that the 240Z was a thoroughly modern package. According to Classic and Sportscar, the ‘Z' was ‘In a different technical league’ whilst Road and Track magazine noted, ‘Datsun have reinvented the sports car with the sleek, civilised, sexy and sporty 240Z’.
This 240Z was imported from Arizona and restored by a respected marque specialist. The body was stripped and repaired as necessary and repainted in blue metallic, the interior was trimmed in contrasting cream. Mechanically the car has had lots of work carried out with a new clutch fitted as well as a new timing chain, brakes, wheels and tyres. The carburettors have also been overhauled, Euro lights have been fitted, a stainless steel exhaust and new dampers. The vendor has applied to the DVLA for the car to be UK registered and it is hoped this will be concluded prior to auction. Datsun 240Z’s are fast becoming highly sought after, fine lefthand drive examples such as this are very much in vogue.
