Formed in 1975, Clenet Coachworks was a manufacturer of limited-production automobiles with distinctive styling inspired by elegant cars of the 1930s.The Clenet was portrayed in the media in the 1980s as a symbol of sophistication and wealth. Indeed, Clenets were featured in television shows of the time such as “Dynasty” and “Dallas.” The Clenet was built by a small team in Santa Barbara County, and was termed "Driven Art" by Automotive Age and Fortune suggested that the brand was the "American Rolls-Royce."
This 1981 Clenet Series II is one of only 187 Series II models made. It appears to be a highly-optioned example featuring Waterford crystal ashtrays and etched glass quarter windows. The car has a two-tone white and blue exterior, a navy blue interior, and a matching blue cloth soft-top. Power comes from a Ford V-8 engine. Additional visual highlights include faux side pipe exhausts, woodgrain trims, driving lights and wire wheels.
