The Traction 15-Six, created in 1938, reached its peak with the "H" version for "hydropneumatic", but it was also nicknamed "oleo". On this model, engineer Paul Magès has developed the system for the rear suspension that will be adopted on the DS: with a high-pressure pump driven by the engine and a hydraulic system that supplies the spheres of each wheel, the car benefits from exceptional comfort and an attitude regulator, which makes it possible to maintain a constant body height regardless of the load. What a revolution for 1955! "An incomparable roadster": that's how Citroën's advertising praises the merits of its new flagship. The story of the 15 H's commercialization is simple, it was a matter of choosing major customers of the brand with chevrons to test this prototype during a full-scale test period. The tests were successful and were used to develop the DS 19. Only 1350 units will be marketed for the 1955 model year.
The model illustrating these pages was first put into circulation at the beginning of 1955, it has a very elegant night blue hue. The interior is made of blue velvet. It was recently restored, taking care to remain as close as possible to its original state. The former owner owned the car from 1989 to 2018 before selling it to the current collector. A lot of work has been done and recently the gearbox has been reconditioned. It is always a great emotion to take the wheel of the so-called "Queen of the Road". Contact, starter and the 6-cylinder engine moves in a characteristic noise. The comfort of the 15 H is not only a legend and even today the car would have nothing to envy to some large new sedans. The car plays curves without rolling. The brakes are effective and durable. Today offered for sale this 15 H will be able to delight the most demanding collector.
