If we were to mention or retain only one commercial vehicle emblematic of the bleach brand, it would most likely be the H type. Presented in 1947, it will only retire in 1981 and will almost never have evolved aesthetically as technically speaking. This longevity is unique in the history of European automotive production. Mechanically simple, very robust but also extraordinarily versatile, the type H is still very popular today. Yet with nearly 500,000 copies produced, it is not so easy to find a healthy and working copy.
First put into service in 1960, this HY has only known one owner, Mr. Paul Raynaud, whose name is written on the bodywork. Owner of a petrol station in Bédarieux in the Hérault, Mr Raynaud will have his utility vehicle painted in the colours of British Petroleum. He will use it almost daily for 18 years. Decided to buy a new SUV, he decided to part with his type H which he would store in a dry place in the garage of his gas station. Immobilized for 40 years, the faithful van was born again in 2018. Aesthetically, our copy has a nice patina and the BP colours have been well preserved overall. The Michelin Michelin Michelin Michelin Man is faithful to the position, well hung above the cabin. The dry climate in the south of France helped to preserve the utility vehicle, which was also restarted without any problems.
This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in La Ferté-Vidame, at the Citroën Centenary, France, on July the 21th, 2019.
