One of the very first DS 21 convertible
High quality restoration
Rare and much sought after,
100 % as original
In addition to the revolutionary character of the DS, the convertible version adds an exotic touch and specifically the incredible pleasure of a full four seater topless car. When it was presented to the public in 1961, the convertible DS was twice the price of the saloon, which says a lot about the care given to finish. At the time, its production was entrusted to the Henri Chapron workshops at Levallois, near Paris, which produced its own parallel models. The convertible received the enhancements to the DS series and in 1965 it was available as the DS 21, with a new engine of 2175cc, which developed 109bhp. No doubt that car is still considered one of the French icons today. Performance, comfort and irreproachable wheel handling add up to the design of a car appreciated by aesthetes. Delivered new in France, this DS 21 convertible was first registered on 23 December 1965. It is therefore a 1966 model equipped with a semi-automatic gearbox. It was fully restored, taking care to respect its characteristics when it left the factory. The result is exceptional. The body has been stripped bare, the bodywork has been restored and repainted in its magnificent original royal blue colour. The mechanics also underwent a facelift, with the engine and its various ancillary components being overhauled. The interior is not to be outdone with a superb natural leather upholstery as well as the carpets, the navy blue bonnet and the soft top cover which have been replaced. It should be noted that the car has a splendid optional Jaeger dashboard and a Weber carburetor. The seats are equipped with headrests and armrests at the front. Beautifully presented, with its long-range headlights, this DS convertible is in near concours condition and has a clear history and Chapron history file.I n addition to the revolutionary character of the DS, the convertible version adds an exotic touch and specifically the incredible pleasure of a full four seater topless car.
