The third generation of Cadillac’s Series 62 made its first appearance in 1948, with styling updates following each year until the end of this run of cars. Major styling changes were brought about for the 1950 model year, with the cars sitting lower, fitted with longer hoods and one-piece windshields, while the Hydra-Matic transmission was now a standard fit. These changes carried over into cars made from 1951, and further revisions included full-length chrome rocker panels and updated trim packages. As a result—with 81,844 models sold, totalling over 70 per cent of Cadillac’s total sales—1951 would mark the most successful year for this generation of the Series 62.

This 1951 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible was delivered on 22 June 1951, finished in Mist Gray Metallic with Red Leather upholstery and a Black convertible soft-top. This Series 62 was well-optioned and cost $3,066.16 new, with Goodrich BW tyres, windscreen washer, wheel discs, license frames, automatic heat control, fog lights, and a vanity mirror. The vehicle retains all of these options, bar the original tyres, and its current paintwork and interior are as per the factory body tag. This Cadillac underwent a significant restoration in 1992, bringing it back to factory specifications. In 2009, the engine and transmission were removed and refreshed, with the electric and hydraulic systems tested.

Today the car presents in nearly “like new” condition and is ready to be enjoyed by its next caretaker.

Les voitures construites à partir de 1951 conservèrent ces changements, qui par la suite s'enrichirent de bas de caisses chromés en totalité et de modernisations des garnissages. Ces améliorations firent du millésime 1951 l'année de plus forte diffusion pour cette génération de Série 62, avec 81 844 ventes, soit plus de 70% des ventes totales de Cadillac.

Cette Cadillac Série 62 de 1951 fut livrée le 22 juin 1951 ; elle était gris fumé métallisé, avec intérieur en cuir rouge et capote noire. La voiture proposée est munie de tous ces équipements, sauf les pneus d'origine, et sa peinture ainsi que son intérieur sont conformes au descriptif d'usine. Elle a bénéficié en 1992 d'une restauration d'importance qui l'a remise au niveau de qualité de sa sortie de chaîne, et en 2009, ce sont le moteur et la boîte qui ont été déposés et remis en état, pendant que ses circuits électriques et hydrauliques se faisaient vérifier.

La voiture est à ce jour pratiquement comme neuve et prête à se faire apprécier de son prochain gardien.
