The BMW Z4 Roadster is a roadster with classic proportions but a unique design. This is the rare Z4 M Roadster, with the engine from the E46 M3. This car is finished in a fitting colour: Imolarot II.

BMW's well-known slogan 'Freude am Fahren' is perhaps best reflected in their roadsters. After the 507, Z1 and Z3, among others, there was the Z4 in 2002. With the long hood and short rear-end, it was a classically proportioned roadster, but one with its own unique design.

In 2006 the ultimate version of the Z4 arrived, with the magical letter M. For the technology of the Z4 M, BMW turned to the E46 M3. The same brilliant 343 hp 3,2 liter straight-six can be found under the beautifully long hood of the Z4 M. The limited slip differential is taken from the E46 M3 as well, while the brake calipers and brake discs originate from the M3 Competition and M3 CSL.

The naturally aspirated S54 engine makes driving the E46 M3 a joy, so you can guess what happens when this engine is placed in a lighter and more compact car. What certainly adds to the experience is the seating position: you are practically sitting on top of the rear axle. With the hydraulic power steering (rather that the electric power steering of the normal Z4), the steering feel is also very nice. Combined with the six-speed manual transmission, this is BMW driving at its finest. And since this is a roadster, you can enjoy the wind in your hair in the meantime.

Of course, there are some visual differences with a regular Z4 as well. The Z4 M has a more pronounced front bumper with larger air intakes and four exhausts adorn the rear. These are fairly subtle adjustments, but the connoisseur will see right away what he's dealing with.

The Z4 M can also be counted among the rarest models in the history of BMW M. In total, only 9.345 of these Z4 Ms have rolled off the production line, of which 5.070 as Roadster. More than half of those where destined for the US, where the car was built.

A Z4 M Roadster is therefore quite rare and that is certainly true for an example in this particular colour. This Z4 M is finished in 'Imolararot II', which was the introduction colour for this model at the time. However, that doesn't mean it's a common colour. Examples in Imola red are relatively rare.

The car is originally from Germany, but has had a Dutch registration since 2009. It now has covered 108.300 km.
